Portrait of Christopher Columbus
A DEEPER MEANING

Discovery ~ Christopher Columbus
His vision, as an explorer, his belief, a new route for trade commerce, his understanding of navigation, his knowledge, gathered from the time of his youth.

SYNOPSIS OF SYMBOLISM

The Quincentennial portrait of Christopher Columbus
by The American Artist
Nancy Jane CAMPBELL

The left hand is for dreaming ~ The right hand is for pain
The Portrait of Christopher Columbus (1992)

The Painting shows Columbus as a boy, holding a sphere. In the sphere is a light,
a candle light.
A ship, the Santa Maria is within the figure of Columbus as a boy.

The title of the painting:
"I Saw a Light, Like a Little wax Candle, An hour, Before The Moon, At Ten"
This is an insert from the Captains log book October 11th, 1492.

Christopher Columbus The Admiral of the Ocean Seas is shown in the painting with Charts clinched in his "right hand". The Crimson red color ignites a Destiny of "pain" Columbus would endure for his Discovery of The New World.....

READ MORE Synopsis of symbolism Portrait of Christopher Columbus

The "left hand" of Christopher Columbus is relaxed, a cobalt blue color emits The "Dreaming" Side of Columbus, the explorer and navigator.
In the Back ground behind Christopher Columbus there is a cross.
The Foundation of faith.

Columbus Stands tall upon the earth in the Ocean stretching into the Heavens.
A bridge or a gap with a cat waiting to "cross over".

and the artist CAMPBELL sailing thru the middle in the "balance of controversy" over this great explorer.

We hope to get more input from the artist CAMPBELL soon!!
